When you’re thinking ozempic is changing your life you gotta be kidding yourself ❗️❌ I do not want to make anyone feel bad about their own decisions, if weightloss dr*gs are the way for you - then I respect that. But as someone who has been in all sizes from 0-22US I can assure you one thing, you might be skinnier but you’re going to have the same feelings and problems as before❗️ Sure you’ll be able to dress yourself in more options, and shopping is easier than before which will give you a „high“ for a while. But you’re the same person as before, and the way we’re feeling about ourselves has to do with so much more than just our clothes 📌 The skin you’re in won’t change, what a lot of us really need is helping our soul and psyche first❤️‍🩹 When you’re bigger, might it be from childhood on, after pregnancy, after hormonal issues or else you’re constantly attacked, surveilled, hurt and judged. But I’ve also been skinny and I can assure you one thing - you’re a woman first and women get attacked for literally anything❗️ May it be from men who want to feel superior, or from women who need to make themselves feel better, people who are triggered and unhealed or parents who literally never should have had children in the first place. When you grow up with liposuction and weight loss drugs in your family 🚩 I grew up in the 00’s a very critical time - no representation of bigger bodies, actually not even any representation of normal sized bodies❌ It was the height of super skinny supermodels and glorification of „nothing tastes better than being skinny“❗️ I grew up with people in my family and inner circle being constantly on weight loss dr*gs, and I’ve seen first hand what those are doing to people🚩 I constantly had to witness and feel depression, moodiness, health issues and constant aggression as a child🚩 But you know what, your body is still not „perfect“ after taking those medications and you still don’t feel like the skinny supermodel in the media so you know what follows next❓ Liposuction - I’ve witnessed as a young teenager several liposuctions, how they must feel, the pain and also the after-care of those wounds (will spare you more details but it’s traumatising)❗️ I’ve been called F*t all of the time by people who should have been taking care of me, because I was just a child, and my home was full of magazines glorifying celebrities showing only exactly those role models. The Fashion Industry is pulling back, how does that make you feel? ❤️‍🩹 Once upon a time.. well honestly like 3-4 years ago we were totally on the peak of size inclusivity👠 We had a lot to choose from, here and there even in-store possibilities, representation of plus sized models on the runway. There were jobs out there, projects and businesses somewhat ready to invest into the plus size consumer💋 We’ve finally felt included, represented, heard and valued. Now it’s the opposite, a lot of bigger brands pulled out the initiatives, smaller brands are bankrupt or are hoping for better times ❌ As someone who is working equally with private styling clients, and fashion brands as a consultant I know both sides and their struggles. I remember how happy I’ve felt to be able finding gorgeous & stylish clothes and especially the same styles as my friends. Yes, I do think fast fashion is terrible - but honestly they’re the ones that understood how to cater to literally anyone and giving options to the broad masses. And regarding the smaller designers, I am feeling deeply for you - for your beautiful designs, creations and the perfection, high quality and love in every single piece you’re creating and how hard business is for you - I got you ♥️👠 I feel exhausted and deeply sad inside ❤️‍🩹 It feels like everything I’ve built in the last 10 years and for what I am advocating is being destroyed and I know there are many of you feeling the same way. I’m not gonna lie. The world and the fashion industry have turned their backs on Plus Size Fashion and Body Positivity. I see it, feel it, and hear it every day❤️‍🩹 Extended Size collections? Vanishing. Booked Plus Size Models? Less and less. Plus Size Influencers? Many are stepping back. Projects in Fashion Inclusivity? Few and far between 🚩🚩 But here’s the truth: There are more plus-size people than ever. We aren’t going anywhere; we exist and thrive ❗️ As you might know, I’ve become very active on TikTok in the past months and I had to witness even on my account the rise of f*tfobic comments, flooding my posts🚩 I’ve also noticed both algorithms on TT and on Insta slowing down plus size content, while my TT feed is flooded with ozempic. You know, I am a very strong and confident woman and I used to be size 0, I have my own story when it comes to feeling well in my body, and there is a lot of pain around it. Even I got recently to a fleeting point where I was thinking what I am doing is not worth it and I should do what all people are doing, stepping away from what I stand for, what I’ve build in the last 10 years and just get on the ozempic rock and done is the deal❤️‍🩹 But then, I remembered: Those thoughts aren’t mine. They’re pushed by media and those who don’t understand individuality. They don’t want to see us thrive as our true selves, confident in our choices❌ There’s a lot more I need to share about this chaos. If you feel the same, stick around for the upcoming weeks.
